A car racing game that deserves a 3D remake.

Car Racing Deluxe is a fairly primitive game that has been around for a long time and is free to download and play. The aim of the game is to get away from the danger whilst avoiding the obstacles in the road.

Outrun And Race The Danger

The town you are leaving is being taken over by volcanic lava, so you have to escape to the next town. The lava follows you, which means you have to hurry up and get moving. It is also spitting out boulders that may hit your car as you drive. In the road, there are numerous obstacles, from innocent patches of slippery water, trees and downed telephone poles, to other cars and the boulders from the natural disaster.

Avoid The Obstacles In The Road

You have to get away at a steady but fast pace in order to beat the lava, but you also have to avoid the obstacles in the road. You may gain new weapons and such for your car, enabling you to clear the obstacles. You can collect bonuses such as weapons by taking certain routes. Unsurprisingly, you are rewarded for taking slightly more dangerous routes as opposed to the more obstacle free routes.

How Does The Game Look?

The colours are nice, the graphics are basic, and the shading is not terrible. This is not a game for your top ten list, but the idea is a good one - it is just a shame the game is so primitive. Ideally, the game should be improved and turned into a three-dimensional game because the idea of getting away from the lava and blowing up rubble in the street is a good one.

That Old Arcade Feel

Car Racing Deluxe is an old-fashioned game that has a retro feel to it and is something you may have played in the arcades years ago. It would have been better if they had made it so you could see further up ahead. The game doesn’t allow you to create a strategy, and you hardly have the chance to plan your route before you are hit with another piece of debris that essentially came from nowhere. There are many people that will find this game too frustrating to play for more than 30 minutes.
